A choice to come?

"I am predicting a major shift in human consciousness," she is telling me over chips and salsa in the local Mexican restaurant. A major shift in human consiousness? Over and over again, for the last five years, I've heard about the Changes to Come. (I'm capitalizing this for the heck of it.) Now, we're talking about 2012 regularly, as regularly as we used to talk about recycling or calling our children baby names or talking about the wonders of Baby Gap or the horrors of the way we are treating the environment. We've built up to this point in our thinking, our awareness, our consciousness, and now an aquaintance of ours, Jobe, is talking in those deep-seeing ways of hers. She continues:

"The human race is going to hatch. We are changing, like a butterfly; we're developing a new psyche." She looks at my son, who is 9, and says: "It's going to be up to the children, now."

Jobe is predicting that some of us will choose - in the Christian style of the story of the Rapture - to go up into the Light and to be with God. "Others will chose to stay here on the Earth and to do work to help raise the consciousness here."

When asked if she will stay or go, Jobe says: "Hmmm. I think I will go."

What about you, reader; what does 2012 mean to you?
